Edward Ricketts 1758

     

Ricketts is also spelled Rickeots, Rickeotts, Rickett, Rickets, Ricket, Rickel, Rickle, Rickels, and Rickles.

Edward Ricketts was born in Maryland in 1758. He was the son of Cheney Ricketts.

Edward served in 2nd Battalion, 1st Company between 1775 and 1783 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

He married Millicent Green on November 3, 1784. She was the daughter of George Green and Sarah Musgrove.

Isaac Ricketts (1805).

Millicent died about 1828.

Edward Ricketts died circa 1852 at Ohio.

 

Barree Township, Pennsylvania was formed in 1767 and was originally part of of Cumberland County, then it became part of Bedford County until 1787 when it became part of Huntingdon County.

Baltimore County, Maryland was founded in 1659 and included most of northeastern Maryland. The original county included parts of Cecil, Frederick, Harford, Carroll, and Baltimore Counties.

Edward Ricketts (Cheney 4, Mary 3, Charles 2, Richard 1) was born 10 Apr 1758, in Frederick Co., Maryland. He married Millicent Green 3 Nov 1784, in Baltimore Co., Maryland. She was born 17 Jul 1761, in Baltimore Co., MD.

They had 11 children:
Sarah Ricketts, born 8 Aug 1785, died about 1842.
Mary Ricketts, born 8 Dec 1786, died after 1855.
Elizabeth Ricketts, born 8 Aug 1788, died 25 Oct 1840 [married Jeremiah Ricketts].
John Cotton Ricketts, born 26 Feb 1790, died 9 Aug 1867 [married Mary Ricketts daughter of Reason Ricketts].
Ruth Ricketts, born 9 Jan 1792, died after 1855.
Clemuel Green Ricketts, born 16 Jan 1794, died 22 Mar 1858.
Nancy Ricketts, born 2 Mar 1797, died about 1835.
Letitia Ricketts, born 9 Jul 1799, died about 1835.
Pleasant Ricketts, born 12 Nov 1800, died after 1855 [Thomas Symmes].
Elijah Green Ricketts, born 5 Jun 1803, died 22 Dec 1877.

Isaac Ricketts.

Millicent died about 1828, in Clearfield Co., PA, and was buried in Warrior's Mark, Clearfield Co., PA.

Edward died about 1852, in OH.

Edward Ricketts [1758]
Enlisted March 1776, in Captain John Little's Company, Bedford County Militia, and served one month; enlisted four months later as a Private in Captain Johnson's Company, later Captain Fisher's Company, Bedford County Militia, and served two months; then assisted in building a fort on his father's place, in Stone Valley; appointed a Lieutenant in Captain John Spencer's, later Captain Arthur Bell's Company, Bedford County Militia, and served until close of War.

He was kept on the frontier as Commander of spies constantly, and only came home occasionally to get bread and salt and immediately returned,-- for four or five years he continued on the back of Tussey Mountain as a guard to the inhabitants. ...

Born the 10th of April, 1758, on the Antietam River below Hagerstown, Maryland; moved to Fairfield County, Ohio, 1800, where he continued to reside in 1832.
